The educational, representative and regulatory body of the solicitors' profession in Ireland.

The Society has two functions:

- works to improve access to the law generally and also provides representation, services and support for solicitors themselves;

- deals with complaints from the public about members of the profession and administers a statutory compensation fund.

The Law Society was established in 1773 and now exercises statutory functions under the Solicitors Acts 1954-2002 in relation to the education, admission, enrolment, discipline and regulation of the solicitors' profession.
